Beat the heat for MS

Mariana WE Balt
As part of the MS patient support programme and strategies to ease the effect of heat on sufferers, Multiple Sclerosis Namibia donated cooling vests to patients to help make the summer months more tolerable for them.

MS becomes worse as the body temperature increases. Even half a degree is enough to make everything slow down and for symptoms to flair up. By cooling the body, many people experience relief from their symptoms.

They also couriered some to rural towns like Aranos, Tsumeb and Otavi where other MS patients reside and made a day visit to the coast. There they had a successful live radio interview with West Coast FM and visited MS patients to enquire about their needs and offer support.
