Rehoboth Town Council last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Swakopmund municipality.

The agreement aims to support both parties in sharing knowledge, expertise and resources to improve tourism, environmental and health management, town planning, waste management and community development strategies.

At the same event, MoUs were also signed the town councils of Opuwo and Oranjemund.

Swakopmund Deputy Mayor, Maria Elago, said over the years her council demonstrated good governance and progress in terms of development, hence the interest from other towns to work closely with it.

While there was no specific time frame on how long the agreement would last, the coastal town’s acting chief executive, Marco Swartz, said council helps other tackle one problem at a time. “For example, we will help them with archiving. Once it is resolved, we move onto the next issue.”
