Love this winter

With winter fast approaching, Hugs 4 Christ celebrated the changing of season by handing out hugs in the Windhoek CBD recently.

The #FreeHugsNam campaign was another success and this time young Jezaia Cloete joined the team.

The new member enjoyed her time with the group and said she felt much love during the outreach. “I had a wonderful time and hope to join them again soon,” she said.

Other group members said they had fun, but they did not get as many hugs as they usually do.

According to Deorine Maasdorp, secretary of the group, the Windhoek CBD was not as busy as usual and that is why they could not reach out to more people. They hope things will look better the next time they have an outreach.

The group also celebrates its second anniversary at the beginning of June and they hope to make their celebration something special. While the date for the event will still be confirmed, they hope to give back to the people who helped them throughout the last two years.

H4C also relaunches their 'Keep the City Warm' campaign in May which will run until the end of June. The main aim is to collect clothes, food, blankets and other household items for people who lost their homes due to fires.

In the campaign that took place for the first time last year, they handed out items to people in informal settlements in Windhoek and also sent some items to south of the country. This year they hope to reach more people and to show residents of Windhoek that there are people who care for and love them.

Still, without donors their projects won't be a success.

H4C will officially launch the campaign on their social pages in May. Donors and volunteers can contact them to be part of the campaign. For more information on Hugs 4 Christ and their projects, send an e-mail to [email protected] or visit their Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter pages.
