Many arrests for drunk driving

11 January 2018 | Accidents

Almost 30 people were arrested in the Omaheke Region over the festive season for driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to chief inspector David Ndove of the Namibian Police Force, 29 drivers were all found guilty of driving under the influence and fined between N$1 500 and N$2 000 each.

The arrests were carried out in Gobabis between 22 December and 4 January.

Ndove said with regards to law enforcement in the region over the same period, only a few minor incidents were reported with the appropriate safety and policing measures that were put in place.

He called on all motorists to abide by the rules of the road and to be vigilant when heading home after the holidays. - Nampa
