Moria kraai koning

In een van die mees opwindende wedstryde nóg vanjaar in die Momentum o.19-premierliga, het die Privaatskool Moria oor Tsumeb Gimnasium koning gekraai met 35-31 in Vrydagaand se kwarteindstryd in die Hage Geingob-stadion in die hoofstad.

Die wenspan van Outjo speel vanjaar vir die eerste keer in die hoogste liga en om vir die Superliga-halfeindstryd te kwalifiseer, is beloning vir hul ondernemende spel sedert die begin van die seisoen.

“Dit was baie groot!” het die skrumskakel en kaptein DJ Holtzhauzen agterna oor Moria se sege gesê. “Die spel was hard, maar dit was die moeite werd. Dit was rof en Tsumeb het gekom vir ons, maar ek is bly ons kon dit deurtrek.”

Die span het deurentyd baie karakter getoon en opwinding het hoog geloop toe hulle die wendrie druk. Veral die laaste lynstaan op ons doellyn was senutergend en gelukkig was hul ingooi skeef, want Tsumeb se voorspelers het die hele wedstryd sterk gedryf.

“Dit was hard by tye, maar ek is bly ons kon hom kry,” het Holtzhausen hieroor gesê.

Moria se afrigter, mnr. Louwtjie Grobler, was baie beïndruk met sy span se spel.

“Hierdie was vir ons ’n groot tree vorentoe. Elke keer as ons nog ’n trap klim, leer ons iets nuuts. Dan sien ons net weer die karakter wat hierdie seuns het. Ons het regtig ’n ‘great’ span.”

Oor die laaste spanningsvolle minute het Grobler gesê: “Ja, dit was baie stresvol. Tsumeb Gimnasium het ’n swaar pak voorspelers en ons het baie respek vir hulle. Ek is net bly die manne het hul man gestaan en koelkop gebly.”

Grobler reken sy span sal met groot entoesiasme volgende week terugkom vir hul semifinaal teen Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool, wat vanjaar die pas aangegee het.

Moria het vroeër die liga-ontmoeting op WAP se rugbyveld gespeel, maar volgende naweek ontmoet hulle mekaar op neutrale grond en as Moria wen, dring hulle na die eindstryd deur om teen die wenner van Windhoek Gimnasium óf Windhoek Hoërskool te speel.

“Ja, ons weet ons is in vir ’n groot wedstryd. WAP is die span wat boaan die punteleer lê. Ons sal moet vasvat, maar ons is reg.”
