Split the bill without splitting hairs

A new banking product makes it more convenient for users to split a bill at a restaurant or when buying gifts.

FNB’s new geopayment solution enables customers to pair their phones without the need to exchange banking details. “After pairing, you can make a transfer from one account to another with no need for setting up conventional payments with all the banking details,” says FNB Namibia’s Desery van Wyk, manager of digital channels.

“This new system allows our customers to make payments to anybody in their vicinity,” she said.

Payments can be as little as N$1 and up to N$35 000.

Geo Pay is part of FNB’s banking app feature that allows you to find and pay other FNB app users within a 500 m radius.

The app uses cellular triangulation, Wi-Fi or GPS, and the service authenticates via the app’s existing programming interface.
