Western bypass claims more lives

Two people died on the western bypass near Brakwater on Saturday, after the tyre of their vehicle allegedly burst, causing it to overturn.

According to NamPol head of media relations, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi, there were five occupants in the vehicle. The driver and two other passengers sustained slight injuries and were reportedly in a stable condition. The deceased were identified as Sofia Mwaandingi (23) and Iipumbu Rehto (25).

This follows more loss of life during the previous weekend, since five people lost their lives then. According to public relations officer of the City Police, Edmund Khoaseb a total of thirty seven motor vehicle accidents was reported over that weekend. Three people died in the accidents, six sustained serious injuries and seven were slightly injured. Those accidents were mostly likely cause by wet roads.
