Fantastic awards for young designer

Linda Venter, a young Namibian who is currently a first-year student at the North West Design School (NWSD) in Klerksdorp, won prestigious awards at the Platinum Fashion Festival.
In addition, her designs hit the headlines: Both the Klerksdorp Record and the Klerksdorp Record Midweek published photos of her dresses on their front pages.
Linda said the first dress had to be an avant-garde garment with a corset, a headpiece as well as a matching skirt or trousers. The theme was “seven deadly sins”, with a different colour representing a different sin.
She was part of a group that had to design something in purple that represented the sin of pride.
Linda’s design won the prize of Showstopper of the Year among the freshmen.
In the photo, Linda appears with the model Hazel More, who wore her dress.
In particular, a red dress with flowers that Linda designed had the local fashion industry abuzz. She said it was designed for the special category "Principle's Surprize" and for this project, she worked with a mentor.
Linda attended Tsumeb Gymnasium.
