Get down and dirty with Dewald

Artist Dewald Veldsman in association with Bellhaus Atelier and Gallery present a kinetic drawing session focused on capturing energy and movement on Friday (1 July).
The workshop is split into two parts on either side of a dinner, with is a hearty goulash or tomato soup served with rosemary and garlic focaccia and Glühwein.
Together Dewald and participants will move in a three-dimensional space while creating two-dimensional drawings using charcoal, ink, and pastels; a series of bilateral drawings in which the artist explores the use of his body as a tool of measurement to inscribe geometries through movement and course.
Participants will use their entire body to create large-scale drawings on large-scale paper; symmetrical shapes and patterns using charcoal, ink, and pastels will be explored.
The drawing session will encourage participants to find low-level pathways of movement to record the kinetic motions of their gestures, taking into consideration composition, line and flow.
Part 1 is a sequence of quick warm-up sketches moving on to studies in which participants will experiment with techniques demonstrated by Dewald. In part 2, participants will work on two more detailed artworks while listening to specifically curated music playlists.
Participants can expect drawing, drawing, and more drawing along with physical movement and getting dirty. You will also step out of your comfort zone and meet new people.
Tickets cost N$150 and include material and dinner. Bookings are essential though, so do so soonest via 081 403 6682 or [email protected]
