Affies hou atletiek

Van die 60m vir die kleintjies en 'n 1 500m uitdaging vir die wat dit wou aanpak, tot gewigstoot en spiesgooi - Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool se leerlinge het die naweek gewys wat in hulle steek.

Yolanda Nel - Affies-atlete het sedert Vrydag-oggend gekyk watter span eindig bo. Van die graad eentjies het gekyk wie die vinnigste onder mekaar kan hardloop in die 60m, terwyl ouers opgewonde langs die kantlyn hul spruite aangemoedig het. “Kyk voor jou,” en “bly in jou baan,” is laggend geskree.

Groot kompetisie is veral onder die senior atlete van die skool gesien, waar seuns en meisies moes bewys wat in hulle steek om deur te dring na die volgende rondte.

En terwyl die spanne met mekaar kompeteer, is een ding verseker, daar is altyd gees by 'n Affies-fees. Skoliere het mekaar deurentyd aangemoedig en hande geklap elke keer as atleet 'n item verbeter, hetsy in spiesgooi of gewigstoot. Ware spangees.

Geen geleentheid is volledig sonder iets om aan te peusel nie en kon ouers en ondersteuners van die skool smul aan heerlike pannekoek en die beste sosaties in die dorp.

Die weer het vir die meeste van die geleentheid goed saam gespeel en dit was beslis 'n lekker geleentheid vir atleet en ondersteuner.

En die wenner? Affies natuurlik.
