Are you The One?

07 July 2019 | Art and Entertainment

The latest multinational talent search competition – You're The One – is in full swing, with the biggest malls in South Africa and Namibia acting as hosts.

All musicians, be it soloists, duos or groups and instrumentalists can enter by simply visiting the Facebook pages of Kosmos 94.1 or the Dunes Mall, or by visiting www.traxtudio.com. All you need to do is upload a video of yourself singing or playing an instrument, or even submit a voice note via whatsapp, and it can be of any song.

The first round of the competition takes place online. Those who qualify for the next round, will be notified seven days before a performing date.

Once you've entered, you will also receive free backtracks, although you don't have to perform with it. You may also enter in more than one genre (category) to better your chances. In other words, you can submit one video in the pop genre and one in country genre.

If you're wondering how a six-year old can compete against a 24-year old, the organisers say everyone is judged on merit, and this is what makes the competition unique. They say it is thus possible for a six-year old to walk – or drive away! – with the winning car, and receive a recording deal and other prizes like a PA system from Mitech Direct.

The hosts will be at the Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay on 4 August (entries for the coast close on 24 July) and at the Grove Mall of Namibia in Windhoek on 14 September (Windhoek entries close on 4 September).

For more info, send an email to [email protected] or visit the Facebook pages of Kosmos 94.1 or the Dunes Mall, or see www.traxtudio.com.
