Beating the heat at the MTB league
10 March 2019 | Sports
The event, organised by Windhoek Gymnasium, provided riders of different age groups with three routes of different lengths and technical complexity, with more than 170 young cyclists from 20 schools in the capital showing their mettle.
Despite the scorching afternoon heat, a positive atmosphere reigned at the track. The steep and winding track for the U/6, U/8 and U/10s included the Kleine Kuppe pumping track ahead of the fast two-lane mountainous stage before heading back to the finish line. The U/12s follow the challenging Peter Pan-route, while the U/14, U/16 and U/18s used the new Neverland track for the first time. This winding, steep track really put the endurance and fitness levels of the older age groups to the test.
The next event in the series takes place Delta Primary School on Friday 29 March.
