Bederf jouself in die tuindorp

Of ons nou die langpad aandurf Etosha toe of 'n naweek wegbreek see toe, op Okahandja moet altyd gestop word vir 'n peuselhappie en 'n heerlike beker koffie.

Ek en 'n paar kollegas is nou die dag in die tuindorp en gaan klop oudergewoonte by Bäckerei Dekker aan. Die tannie groet ons vriendelik en ons maak onsself by een van die tafels tuis. 'n Kelnerin skarrel met 'n groot glimlag nader en vra dadelik van waar ons is. Hulle ken seker maar die meeste inwoners hier.

Ons reken dit is tyd vir bederf, al is dit nou eers 11:00. Ons besluit op 'n Coke-float. “'n Grote of 'n kleintjie, mevrou?,” wil die kelnerin weet. “'n Lekker grote!” sê ons gelyk.

Ons bekyk die spyskaart wat spog met 'n verskeidenheid van brötchens, geroosterde broodjies en vir die wat baie honger is, groot ontbyte. Ons besluit op gevulde omelette (sonder brood, want sommige hou steeds by hul nuwejaarsvoornemens), 'n ham-en-kaas-brötchen en 'n spek-en-eier-roosterbroodjie.

Die kos is heerlik en dit vul beslis die honger kolle.

Die kelnerin is kort-kort by ons om seker te maak alles is nog reg.

Benewens ons groepie, is daar 'n paar toeriste wat ook 'n peuselhappie geniet. Talle inwoners stap gereeld in en uit, en dit blyk dit is die heerlike soetgebak wat hulle na die bakkery bring. Hier is almal welkom en almal word soos familie behandel. Net 'n bewys dat dit 'n eetplek vir ieder en elk is om 'n vinnige ete te geniet.

As jy weer in die tuindorp stop, gaan maak gerus 'n draai by Bäckerei Dekker en koop sommer 'n handvol koekies terwyl jy daar is.
