CAN outreach begins

20 January 2019 | Society

The Cancer Association of Namibia hosts the first of their annual medical outreaches to help fight cancer in Namibia, starting in Rehoboth on Monday.

The medical screenings are free, thanks to funding by the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project, Spar Namibia and through the support of the Gondwana Collection Namibia.

The procedures conducted are Pap smears and clinical breast examination for screening cervical- and breast cancers for ladies, and health education and Rapid PSA tests to prevent prostate cancer for men. However, only the first 100 ladies and 40 men can be screened.

Both men and women must bring along their Namibian ID, while ladies are asked to bring their own gown or wrap.

Dates and venues

• Monday (21 January): Rehoboth at CAN Hardap Centre from 08:00 (Erf 63 Kerkstraat, Blok B)

• Tuesday (22 January): Stampriet state clinic from 10:00

• Wednesday (23 January): Aranos state clinic from 10:00
