Barry de Klerk – The College of the Art (COTA) youth choir is having auditions for young people wishing to be part of their award winning team.The choir is building a group to take part in the 2018 World Choir Games, which will take place in South Africa. According to Fanie Dorfling, the conductor of the choir, singers between the ages of 15 and 17 will receive preference, but singers up to the age of 20 can audition.
Participants should prepare an a capella song. Auditions will take place on 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 January from 14:30 to 16:00 at the College of the Art.
The COTA youth choir was started under the leadership of Mr Fanie Dorfling in 2005. After nearly twelve years the choir has performed at various local and international events. Most members come from previously disadvantaged groups in Windhoek.
The COTA youth choir performs Namibian traditional and contemporary choral music, African traditional music and western music covering all genres. The choir currently performs at between 20 and 25 concerts a year.
