Dubbel die vreugde by Parkies laerskool

By die Laerskool Pionierspark is dit nie net leerlinge wat tweelinge is nie, maar ook 'n onderwyseres.

Yolanda Nel - Laerskool Pionierspark spog vanjaar nie met net nuwe maatjies in graad 1 nie, maar sommer met agt stelle tweelinge in dié graad.

Altesaam is daar vanjaar 26 stelle tweelinge van graad 1 tot 7, waarvan 12 identies is met ses stelle seuns en ses stelle meisies. Van die tweelinge wat nie identies is nie, is daar sewe stelle van beide geslagte – vyf stelle seuns en twee stelle meisies. Uit die graad 1’s is vier identies. Van hulle almal is daar vier seuns stelle, een dogter stel en drie boetie-sussie stelle.

Een van die tweelinge het met Windhoek Express gesels en dié twee sussies is dit eens: Dis heerlik om ’n tweeling te wees.

“Ek het altyd ’n maatjie met wie ek iets kan doen – van sportaktiwiteite tot rustig by die huis boek lees,” vertel 12-jarige Candice Fourie. Hoewel hulle ’n identiese tweeling is, is die een bietjie langer as die ander en hul persoonlikhede verskil tog maar. “Sussie hou meer van buite aktiwiteite en ek is meer van ’n boekwurm,” vertel sus Elre.

Een van die onderwysers, juf. Jaen-Mari Coetzee, wat self een van ’n identiese tweeling is, het met Windhoek Express se besoek haar sussie, Lee-Ann Coetzee, ook vir die fotosessie genooi en het hulle tot dieselfde uitrusting vir die geleentheid aangetrek.

“Ek het nog altyd gesê ek wil eendag ’n huis langs my sussie koop,” skerts Jaen-Mari. Hoewel hulle nie heeltemal langs mekaar bly nie, bly hulle wel net ’n straat van mekaar.

“Hoe ongelooflik is dit nie om te sien hoeveel tweelinge hier is nie!” het juf. Andrea du Plessis gesê. “Ek dink nie daar was al ooit so baie tweelinge in ons skool nie.”

Volgens ’n studie wat in September 2011 deur Jeroen Smits en Christiaan Monden oor die aantal tweelinge regoor die ontwikkelende wêreld gedoen is, dui navorsing daarop dat tussen 11 en 15 geboortes uit elke duisend mense in Namibië, ’n tweeling is. Die kans om ’n identiese tweeling te kry is een uit 250, dus is 0.3% van die wêreld se bevolking ’n identiese tweeling.
