Dit is geen geheim dat ek gaande is oor realiteitsprogramme nie. Moet my nie
verkeerd verstaan nie, ek praat van kwaliteit programme nie en nie die
Kardashians of The housewives van watter stad ookal nie.
Tydens die inperking het ek Dstv Now ontdek en danksy my ouers, kan ek na
hartelus soek na 'n magdom van hierdie realiteitsprogramme. Op Vuzu (kanaal
116) vind ek 'n ou gunsteling, The Block Australia. Die uitsending is reeds in
2017 opgeneem.
Die program speel in 12 weke af en daag vyf spanne van twee uit om 'n huis of
woonstel in die gegewe tyd te restoureer en mooi te maak. Die spanne moet
streng met hul begroting werk en het net 'n week om 'n spesfieke vertrek klaar
te maak.
Behalwe dat die spanne reeds min tyd het om 'n vertrek te voltooi, is daar ook
talle uitdagings wat hulle moet voltooi in die hoop om meer geld te wen om
verder in die huis te stoot.
Teen die einde van die 12 weke, word die huise op 'n veiling geplaas. Spanne
hou die wins wat gemaak word en die span wat die meeste wins in hulle sak
steek, wen 'n addisionele kontantprys.
Hoewel die reeks inspirasie bied vir hoe jy self jou huis wil laat lyk, is dit die
menslike aspek daarvan wat my aandag trek. Diegene in verhoudings wat nie
saamstem oor 'n kleur verf nie, kan net vir solank die kameras ontduik en
siende dat dit tog 'n kompetisie is, is daar by tye wrywing tussen die spanne.
Met soveel op die spel, strek “neighbourly love” ook net sover.
