Exploring yourself through art
09 September 2019 | Art and Entertainment
Taking place over four weeks, the course is hosted by Pod Studios and uses writing, painting, collage, experimental sensorial techniques and 3D projects for teenagers to express themselves.
The aim is not to create a finished product, but rather to focus on the spontaneous process of art making and at times, the symbolic expression of inner states. Therefore no experience of skill is required.
Art has been proven to be highly beneficial for physical and mental health and wellbeing. It is relaxing, fun, and enables a way of communication which can often be easier and more effective for certain people. Children, youth, the elderly, those with chronic or terminal illness and the differently-abled especially benefit from art. Making art can be an avenue to processing and managing stressful or negative experiences, as well as a way to (re)connect with yourself, find new joy or meaning in life, and create hope.
This course is designed for teenagers aged between 13 and 17 years, and who are interested in being creative and spontaneous. The course takes place over four weeks, with one 90-minute contact session per week. It takes place at the Pod Studio in Academia. Costs are N$820, which includes all materials.
