Speaking to Nampa, Strauss Lunyangwe (aka Mr Makoya) said as the group is gearing up to release their album commemorating their 20-year celebration, they want to assist with the renovation of the Katutura Community Hall which was built in 1964.
The hall is used by community members for church activities, entertainment events, community meetings and for school examinations amongst other activities. “The community hall is old, covered in graffiti and severely vandalised, which has now reached a stage of dilapidation and needs urgent renovation.”
Matongo Family will host the fundraising event with the help of other artists, community members and stakeholders to raise funds to restore the community hall at a cost of approximately N$400 000.
“The facelift will once again make it a self-sustaining money generating business,” Mr Makoya said. – Nampa
