Food for Epako elders
01 October 2019 | Disasters
The donation consists of sugar, baking flour and yeast, tins of meat, soya beans and cooking oil, among other items.
Speaking at the event, Modise said her office together with citizens of Botswana who reside in Namibia, came together and from their own pockets, managed to scramble together the little they could to assist the elders of Gobabis. “When I was here last time, I saw hope in your eyes and said I will come back, so when President Hage Geingob declared that there is drought in the country, I said I will come.”
The donation was handed over to Omaheke Governor Festus Ueitele, who commended herfor her good deed. “I have no words to thank the High Commissioner for what she is doing for Omaheke, specifically for the Epako old age home. She has her own senior citizens and children in her own country but because of the spirit of ubuntu, she has come to share.”
As a token of appreciation, Gobabis mayor Liberius Kalili presented Modise with a gift. – Nampa
