Gobabis spog met junior dorpsraad

Die Gobabis dorspraad spog vir die eerste keer met ’n junior dorpsraad wat uit 12 leerlinge van drie plaaslike skole bestaan.

Volgens die skakelbeampte van die Gobabis dorpsraad, Frederick Ueitele, word daar al die afgelope vyf jaar aan die junior dorpsraad beplan en is dit eindelik deel van die begroting. “Skole in die gebied is reeds verlede jaar genader om vier leerlinge uit elke skool te identifiseer,” sê hy.

Die skole is Gobabis Gimnasium en die hoërskole Wennie du Plessis en Epako. “Die leerlinge is vroeër vanjaar tydens ’n slypskool opgelei, met bystand van die Windhoekse stadsraad.”

Daarna het die leerlinge onder mekaar ’n junior burgemeester en adjunk verkies.

Só is Hidipo Ueitele as junior burgemeester verkies en Adda Shililifa as adjunk. Nokokure Kangootui is as dorpsklerk, Okeri Karuuombe as tesourier en Oberi Kandjou as sekretaresse verkies.

Volgens Ueitele is dit belangrik vir die jeug om by die dorpsraad betrokke te raak sodat hulle hul agenda aan die raad kan voorlê. “Hulle dien ook as ’n spreekbuis in hul skole om die aktiwiteite van die raad oor te dra,” het hy gesê.

Probleemareas wat die leerlinge identifiseer het, sluit in die waterkwessie sowel as die Hepatitis E uitbreking en die dorp se netheid. “Die agendapunte sal Woensdag tydens onafhanklikheidsvieringe by die skole bespreek word,” sê hy.

Dié dag is ook die groep se eerste amptelike besoek aan skole en word hulle dan ook aan leerlinge voorgestel.
