Rehobothers wat hulself daaraan skuldig maak om grond wat aan die ­dorpsraad behoort te koop en verkoop, sal moet ligloop.

Die Rehoboth dorpsraad (RTC) het vroeër hierdie week 'n verklaring uitgereik waarin oortreders gewaarsku word dat hulle regstappe in die gesig staar indien hulle daaraan skuldig bevind sou word. “Bewys van grondeie-naarskap is nodig,” lui die verklaring.

Die RTC kon nie by verdere navrae aandui hoe-veel inwoners al in hierdie verband aangekeer is nie. Die skakelbeampte was teen druktyd ook nie vir enige kommentaar nie beskikbaar.

Volgens die verklaring kan die dorpsraad nie aanspreeklik gehou word vir enige grond verkope sonder bewys van eie-naarskap nie en kan ko-pers hul geld in die proses kwyt wees.

Meeste van die gevalle waar grondbesettings plaasvind, is in gebiede wat vir behuisingsontwikkeling geïdentifiseer is, sowel as ander gebiede wat vir verskeie raadsgebruike bestem is.

“Die grondbesetting ondermyn nie net behoorlike beplanningsprosesse nie, maar benadeel die regmatige begunstigdes van behuisingsgeleent-hede. Boonop het dit 'n negatiewe impak op die lewering van huise en onderbreek dit dienslewering,” aldus die verklaring.
