Help us, help you – CAN
10 March 2019 | Society
“While cancer patients can make use of House Acacia during their six-weekly treatment plans and follow-up checks free of charge, CAN is now requesting a donation of N$150 per day to cover some of the costs incurred towards preparing the three meals provided daily,” said CAN's Rolf Hansen.
He said that a donation of N$250 per night will be asked for spouses, subject to the availability of beds.
According to Hansen, patients will be provided with formal documentation that can be presented to their medical aid to claim back these payments if they have the option. “However, patients who are not able to make the required donation, are encourage to apply with CAN's patient financial and accommodation assistance programme in advance,” he said.
Hansen said that their patients hail from all over the country and include the full spectrum of the Namibian house. “We pride ourselves in honouring culture, diversity and focusing on the core aspect of cancer treatment, namely supporting the individual and embracing the cancer journey together.”
He said the assistance programme traditionally helps patients with transport support, financial help in terms of co-payments, monthly subsidies, nutritional food supplements and outstanding medical accounts. “Meanwhile, we want to continue playing our vital role to those who need help,” he said.
