Iets vir die soettand

Tussen gewilde restaurante in 'n besige straat, vind ons 'n klein bakkery met soetgoed en middagete.

Op Valentynsdag besluit die WE-span om onsself bietjie te bederf met ietsie soets.

Om die draai van ons kantoor – in Liliencronstraat – ontdek ons vir Baked.

Dis 'n klein opset en met die intrapslag is ons beide bietjie verward oor wat volgende moet gebeur. Die eienaar en 'n kelnerin groet ons vriendelik en verduidelik dat ons sommer daar by die ingang en terwyl ons staan, kan besluit wat ons wil hê. Met 'n vinnige blik na die tafel langs ons, sien ons vars gebakte soetgoed wat wag om verorber te word.

Omdat dit die dag van liefde is, is daar van soetkoekies met vrolike temas tot kolwyntjies, maar wat ons oog vang, is die Rocky Road: Lae sjokalade gemeng met beskuitjies, jellielekkers, malvalekkers en pampoensaad. Yum.

Die porsie is groot en ons is dankbaar vir die koppie tee wat ons daarmee saam bestel, want 'n melkskommel of 'n vrugtesap sou die soetgebak net nog soeter gemaak het.

Hoewel ons beide 'n soettand het, meen ons die porsies kan gerus kleiner gemaak word.

Ons het nie spyskaarte gekry nie en was effe ongemaklik om te moes vra watter drinkgoed alles beskikbaar is. Die gebrek aan 'n spyskaart het dit ook moeilik gemaak om te kon vasstel presies wat die koffiewinkel bied, tog pronk hulle sosiale mediablaaie met 'n verskeindenheid van brode en vulsels waarvan ons dié dag niks gesien het nie.

Die eienaar van Baked Neigbourhood Patisserie het wel laat weet daar is 'n spesiale middagete-opsie wat elke dag iets nuuts is.

Die opset is klein en goed ingerig met sitplek binne en buite, maar ons besluit om die buitelug te geniet terwyl die wolke ietwat van 'n lafenis teen die son bied.

Hoewel ons soetgoed en ons tee binne minute bedien is, het die kelnerin nie gereeld kom inloer om te hoor of ons iets benodig nie en moes ons gaan vra vir melk vir ons tee.

Baked se deure is nog nie lank oop nie en dalk vind die personeel en die bestuur nog net hulle voete, maar die gebak daar is beslis iets waarna ek sal terugkeer.
