Juffrou Vissie groet die skoolgeewêreld

Me. Elsabe Visser (beter bekend as Juffrou Vissie) het op 31 Desember 2020 ná 42 jaar in die onderwys, afgetree.
Nadat sy in 1974 matriek geslaag het, is Elsabe Onderwys Kollege Paarl (OKP) toe waarna sy in 1978 haar onderwysloopbaan in Keimoes begin. Hier ontmoet sy haar man, Kosie. Soos op menige kleiner plekkies, moes Elsabe graad 5 Wiskunde asook LO vir graad 5 tot 12 meisies gee.
In 1979 kry sy ’n pos by Meisieskool Eros tot Junie 1980 toe sy en Kosie getroud is.
Kosie word ná hul troue Upington toe verplaas waar sy ook skool gehou het. In 1987 trek hulle Karasburg toe en gee sy vir 10 jaar by die Primêre Skool Karasburg skool. Hier rig sy ook netbal af. Omdat die skool nie ’n bus gehad het nie, het sy en Kosie dikwels die netbalspelertjies agter op ’n bakkie (met ’n kappie) gelaai en hulle na ander dorpe soos Bethanie, Aus, Keetmanshoop, Mariental en Lüderitz geneem om te gaan wedstryde speel.
Elsabe se bejaarde ma bly steeds op Karasburg en wanneer Elsabe op Karasburg kom, is daar steeds van hierdie netbalspelers wat haar kom groet en saam praat oor die herinneringe.
In 1998 word Kosie Windhoek toe verplaas en Elsabe gee vir twee jaar Wiskunde en Afrikaans by die Primêre Skool Pionierspark. Vanaf 2001 tot 2006 gee sy Wiskunde by die Primêre Skool Eros en in 2007 begin sy by die nuut-gestigde Windhoek Gymnasium. Sy onderbreek haar diens by Windhoek Gymnasium vir ses maande in 2012 toe sy Karasburg toe moes gaan.
Kosie en Elsabe maak saam hulle vier seuns groot: Nico, Kobus, Tiaan en André. André is getroud en het twee dogtertjies. “Oumawees is die lekkerste ding in die wêreld!” vertel Elsabe.
Elsabe se nommer een passie is en bly kinders.
Na haar aftrede het, het Elsabe ’n private “tutoring” pos aanvaar waar sy voormiddae vry is en na skool die kinders oplaai en na hul buitemuurse aktiwiteite neem en huiswerk doen.
Juffrou Visser sê sy mis Windhoek Gymnasium se kinders, ouers en onderwysers steeds baie, maar is dankbaar vir die geleentheid wat sy het om steeds haar passie uit te leef.
Vra die Gimmies hoe hulle vir Juffrou Elsabe onthou en jy sal sommer gou-gou agterkom sy was geliefd en sy het ’n verskil gemaak – nie net in haar vak(ke) wat sy aangebied het nie, maar in veral in die kinders se lewens.
