Making pizza plans

Here's what to do when you're hungry and have no time to prep a meal.

It was a Saturday evening and yours truly had to put in a couple of hours at the office. Of course no one is in the mood to cook after that. So what's the best option? You make a plan of course. Plan B to be more specific.

For those of you that aren't au fait with Windhoek's pizza offerings, Plan B is located in the Maerua Lifestyle Centre, where St. Elmo's used to be. While the name changed quite a while ago, the pizzeria still delivers tasty, thin-based woodfired pizza and pastas.

When we wrote about their name change, they told us that they don't show off with showy boxes for their pizzas – they say it's what's inside the box that's important. And our pizzas were delicious.

On our takeaway menu this particular Saturday night, was Margherita for the kids, creamy chicken and mushroom for me, and a cheesy steak melt pizza for the hubster. And they were all delicious.

Best of all though, were the leftovers that we could have for breakfast the next morning!

Their menu is quite extensive, which means they can cater for a lot of different tastes. For pizzas you can choose between the ever popular traditional numbers (like the vegetarian or Hawaiian), “The Grand” which has all kinds of yummy extras like bacon, salami, asparagus, olives and more, or “The Very Grand” which feature even more funky combos. There are also promos on these items if order two of the same. Check the menu for details on this.

When it comes to pasta dishes, there are also many options. Again, you can choose between traditional pastas (like Alfredo or macaroni cheese), or “The Grand Pastas”, which include dishes like “Solace” – with basil pesto in a creamy Napolitana sauce, or the “Mozart” with steak, peppers, caramalised onions in a tomato sauce. Like the pizzas, your choices are between medium and large.

And finally, there are the box deals, ideal for the very hungry or more people. These include between two and four traditional pizzas or pastas with cooldrink or wine, The Monday or Tuesday Plan – which is obviously applicable on these respective days – and then there's The Weekender, well, for when you're working over the weekend and don't have time or the energy to make a family meal!

All in all, we were very pleased with our meals and they will definitely see us again!
