Met ’n kamera in haar hand

Met ’n passie vir fotografie en troeteldiere wat gereeld moet regstaan vir ’n fotosessie, het Piece of Me Photography ontstaan.
“Dit was met my eie troue in 2016 wat die gogga my gebyt het en ek het besluit om ’n kamera te koop,” vertel Elmarie Lourens van Piece of Me. Haar familie en honde moes gereeld en geduldig vir foto’s regstaan terwyl sy haarself geleer het en haar eie styl begin ontwikkel het.
Om mee te begin, het Elmarie ’n sosiale media-blad geskep. “Dinge het nie oornag vir my verander nie – ek moes eers ’n naam vir myself maak. Die ondersteuning van my vriende en familie het baie gehelp. Ek moes hard werk en laat aande sit om myself te leer,” sê sy.
Sy erken sy het aanvanklik gedink dit sal ’n lekker stokperdjie wees en heel moontlik ’n ekstra inkomste genereer. Maar vier jaar later het sy goeie kontak met haar kliënte opgebou en beoefen sy dit nou voltyds. “My man is my grootste bewonderaar en vreeslik ondersteunend. Sonder hom sou ek nie wees waar ek vandag is nie,” sê sy.
Elmarie hou die meeste van die verhoudings wat sy met kliënte bou en die terugvoering wat sy kry. “Hulle word almal vriende,” lag sy. Sy probeer om met nuwe, vars idees vorendag te kom en sy werk hard om ’n oomblik vir ewig vas te vang.
Sy erken dat sy baie senuweeagtig word as sy pasgebore babas moet afneem. “Ek het myself geleer en omdat ek self nog nie kinders het nie, sukkel ek met hierdie soort foto’s.” Sy het daarom met leefstyl-fotografie begin, en hoewel dit uit haar gemaksone is, verbaas sy haarself tog by tye as sy net deurdruk.
Tydens die inperking was dit ’n frustrasie, omdat Elmarie iemand is wat altyd besig moet wees. “Ek kry my energie van my kliënte en sonder hulle het my man en my hond die swaarste gekry,” lag sy. En hoewel die inperkings nou ietwat ligter is, is alles nie meer soos dit voorheen was nie. “Dit het elke liewe persoon geraak en mense draai almal nou hulle sente om. Luukses kry nie op die oomblik voorkeur nie.”
Maar Elmarie het nie gaan sit nie. Sy is gereed om nuwe kliënte te ontmoet en mooi herinneringe op kamera vas te vang. Beosek gerus haar Facebook blad Piece of Me Photography vir meer inligting en om te sien hoe sy met die kamera tower.
