Adolf Kaure – The popular coastal based a capella group African Vocals is set to tour Germany later this year.

The group consists of Joel Nambuli, Aibeb Eduardo, Tjiposa Markus, Elago Mattheus, Hoaeb Sebulon, Majiedt Theoley, Josef Elia, Kahambuee Kungairi, Romanus Afrikaaner, Sylvanis Hanadaob and Reinhold Innocent.

Nambuli told this newspaper that African Vocals will perform at 30 different cities in Germany during a six-week tour.

“We will perform in our own shows and at festivals. Workshops with different bands and schools to promote Namibia will also take place. The tour also serves the purpose of promoting our music, and building a good relationship and friendship between Namibia and Germany. At the same time we want to raise funds for educational projects and schools in our country.”

African Vocals mainly performs African traditional music, but also other genres.

Past achievements include three international tours in 2014, 2016 and 2017 to Germany.

African Vocals also had the privileged to perform alongside Elemotho at the 2018 Windhoek Jazz Festival.

“It is our objective to support students mentally and financially where ever possible. We mainly look at the less privileged kids and projects that are there to boost the educational system of our country. We hope to do this in all Namibian towns and villages.”

African Vocals was formed in 2012 with the purpose of building a group that can promote Namibian cultures and traditions around the globe through music. Group members also strive to empower and encourage young people to have pride in themselves and to try harder to succeed in life.
