Veertien eg Namibiese besighede het die geleentheid aangegryp om by Wernhil Park-inkoopsentrum se eerste Made in Namibia-ekspo uit te stal.

Die handelskou loop hand-aan-hand met Namibië se onafhanklikheidsvieringe en kom op Woensdag, 20 Maart ten einde. “Hierdie is 'n geleentheid om nie net vir Namibiërs te wys wat ons self kan bied nie, maar ook vir buitelanders,” het Sylvia Rusch van Broll Namibia gesê. Vir die groep is dit belangrik dat Namibiërs sien watter produkte word op eie bodom vervaardig. “Hierdie is die mense wat ons moet ondersteun.”

Wernhil vier ook in Maart hul verjaarsdag. “Ons is 29 jaar oud en die land is 29 jaar oud en dus moet daar fees gevier word,” sê sy. “En hoe anders as om 'n platform te skep vir entrepreneurs wat dit vir hulleself maak werk?”

Hoewel dit die eerste keer is wat die skou aangebied word, sal dit beslis nie die laaste wees nie, en Broll beoog om dit 'n jaarlikse instelling te maak. “Van hier af kan dit net groter word. Vanjaar is 'n goeie begin en ons wil graag hierdie platform na ander Namibiese besighede ook uitbrei.”

Een van die gewildste kosstalletjies is Hushi Catering, met Hulda Shipanga wat gretig is om veral vir toeriste van haar disse te vertel. Sy sê die mopanewurms is tot dusver 'n wenner.
