'n Stukkie paradys

Waar die teerpad eindig, wag die begin van 'n heerlike wegbreek-naweek, met voëls se getjirp wat seker maak jy verslaap nie.

As jy regs draai op die Dordabis-pad en die grondpad begin, daar tussen êrens en nêrens, sal jy op 'n stukkie paradys afkom.

Met 'n onlangse familie-troue bevind ons ons by Ankawini Safari Ranch. Ons word deur sebras, kameelperde en bokkies gegroet. Ons selfone wys daar is nie 'n greintjie opvangs nie en ons sien uit na 'n naweek sonder tegnologie.

Nes jy dink daar gaan oor die volgende bult dalk 'n huisie of twee staan, wag nog koppies in die verte en kan jy die mooi landskappe vir nog 'n wyle inneem. Wanneer jy eindelik by die bestemming uitkom, staan daar 'n kasteel – perfek vir troues en ander groot geleenthede.

Die ouer garde verkies kamers, terwyl ons in die bosse gaan kamp opslaan. Daar is ook 'n opsie van semi-permanente tente, indien jy nie oor kamptoerusting beskik nie. Die sweet tap ons behoorlik in die versengende hitte af, maar die groot swembad bied lafenis, en hier en daar sit gaste met hul voete in die water.

Die kamplekke is ook toegerus met 'n stort en spoeltoilet, hoewel daar geen elektrisiteit is nie.

Die oggend ná die groot makietie geniet ons almal 'n heerlike buffet-ontbyt. Varsgebakte brode, met 'n verskeidenheid konfyt en kaas, staan die tafel vol. Daar is ook 'n granola-gebak wat ek glo elke persoon laat vra het na die resep, asook heerlike quiche. Ons kon nie genoeg van alle die disse kry nie. Die blikbekers en -borde waaruit ons gedrink en geëet het, voeg verder by tot die lieflike ondervinding.

Die personeel is vriendelik en dit voel soos jou eie familie se plaas. Pure elegansie in die bos en 'n welverdiende wegbreek op die koop toe.

Hoewel dele op die perseel nog ontwikkel word, is die span oorgehaal om jou met enige navrae te help.
