The establishment of the First Football School in Windhoek (1FSW) will not only create jobs in the capital, but priority will be given to small and medium enterprises for a number of professional services.

The project, already approved in December 2016, will be established at the Khomasdal stadium, which is currently not in full use. “The proposed site will serve as training grounds and provide office spaces at the stadium,” read council documents.

A draft lease agreement for the development of the B and C fields at the Khomasdal stadium to establish the school, was submitted to council that went along with some changes to the initial agreement. Although the agreement will only be for the B and C fields, the upgrading will be for the entire facility, including the A field.

The entire stadium is 71 520m², with roughly 47 500m² that will still resort under Council.

A monthly rental fee of N$18 975 with a 10% annual increment for a period of 30 years is payable.

The estimated cost for this project is N$30 million for the B and C fields while upgrades to the Khomasdal stadium A field will bring the total cost to N$50 million.

According to documents, the developers have enough money and collateral to start the project. There will be no financial implications from the Council’s side for this project, however supervision during construction and other services will be as per council laws.

Although the initial proposal was submitted under the personal capacity of Collin Benjamin, a name change was suggested as 1FSW, whereby the applicant still remains the representative of the entity.
