New hospital on the cards

15 October 2018 | Infrastructure

The development of a new township that, amongst others, includes a hospital, is in the process of being gazetted and registered.

According to a recently published notice, regional planners intend to apply to the City of Windhoek for the consolidation of erven 73 to 76, Abigail township proper, along with consent to construct and operate a hospital.

“Abigail township proper is a new industrial and mixed-use township located to the north of the Van Eck power station and east of the existing railway line,” the notice reads.

The proposed erven are located at the main entrance of the township. According to the developers, on-site parking will be provided along with access from feeder roads, in accordance with the Windhoek town planning scheme.

The notice further states that the plans can be inspected at the town planning notice board at the Windhoek municipal offices. Any persons wishing to object to the proposed use of the land may lodge such objection in writing, together with the grounds thereof, with the City by 24 October.

The town planners and project managers were contacted for additional information with regards to the project, but no reaction was received by the time of going to press.
