What will you learn?
• Relevant and interesting facts on the biology for the successful management and manipulation of honey bee colonies;
• Principles of honey farming;
• Beehive management for productivity;
• Introduction to pests and diseases; and
• How honey is harvested
All topics will be taught in blocks of theory followed by practical sessions, including the harvesting and centrifuging of honey. Bee suits will be provided, but if you have your own, please bring it along. If you have gumboots please also bring it along. It is recommended to have long sleeve shirt and trousers under the bee suite. Please don't use any strong perfumes.
The course takes place on 27 (07:30 – 15:00) & 28 February (08:00 to 13:00) at the Tranquility Estate, 25km south of Windhoek on the B1 (accessible with a sedan). Cost: N$990 per person / N$890 for NOA members.
The fee includes a light lunch on Saturday, refreshments, and two coffee breaks with snacks.
