Nuwe pad veroorsaak vinnig konsternasie

Volgens ’n Facebook-inskrywing sê een inwoner dat ondanks talle waarskuwingstekens, is die nuwe pad ’n veiligheidsrisiko. “Hoewel dit onwettig is, stop taxis sowel as munisipale busse steeds om passasiers op- en af te laai. Hulle maak gevaarlike u-draaie voor aankomende verkeer en daar is ’n totale miskenning van padreëls,” lees die inskrywing.
Die inwoner smeek die stadspolisie om aksie te neem, veral in die lig van talle ongelukke wat die afgelope paar maande tientalle lewens geëis het. “Dit is duidelik dat padtekens geen gewig dra nie en geen verskil maak nie,” het hy gesê.
“Daai (pad)-teken in Afrika is net goed vir skrootmetaal [verwysend na ’n padteken wat ryloop daar verbied]. Die mense gooi duim net onder daardie padteken,” het een kommentaar gelewer. ’n Ander het laat hoor dat indien jy jou noodligte aanskakel, is die padtekens en padreëls nie van toepassing nie. “Jy moet fisies daar wees om die wet toe te pas. Hulle sit net nog meer tekens op en reken die saak is opgelos,” het nog ’n iemand anders geskryf.
