Ons eerste stop langs die kus

Of die son skyn en of 'n mislaag oor die duine hang, by hierdie pizza-plek moet daar ten minste een keer kos gekoop word.

Daar is twee soorte mense: Hentiesbaaiers en Swakopmunders.

Ons is beslis Hentiesbaaiers. Of ons vir 'n naweek of vir 'n maand daar gaan uitspan, bly een tradisie altyd staande: Met die inryslag by dié kusdorpie, stop ons altyd eerste by Pirates Cove vir heerlik pizza.

Met ons laaste besoek was dit geensins anders nie. Ons maak onsself gemaklik by die kroeg en kyk vinnig oor die spyskaart. Ons bestel drankies en die ander teug heerlik aan hul bier terwyl ons kos voorberei word.

'n Trekpleister by Pirates Cove is die groot wiel wat kliënte vir N$20 kan draai. Waar ook al die balletjie in land, is dit die kortetjie wat jy dan moet geniet. Maar daar is een haakplek: Die bottel Niks. Dié bottel bestaan uit al die klein bietjies wat altyd van ander bottels oorbly. Die knaap se geluk was nie daardie aand aan sy kant nie en dis presies toe waarop hy land. Sy ervaring? Dit proe soos brandewyn en whisky en teen die tyd wat jy sluk, is daar 'n chilli-geur wat deurskop!

Ná 20 minute is ons pizza gereed en ons besluit om ons kos weg te neem om sommer by die huis te eet. Die reuke is genoeg om my al in die motor aan 'n skyf te laat kou, maar ek hou my in. By die huis ruil ons onder mekaar skywe uit, sodat ons van al drie pizzas kan proe.

Hoewel al drie heerlik was en beslis die hongerkol op my maag getem het, was die hoender op my pizza bietjie droog en die sous aan die min kant. Daar was wel genoeg knoffel om enige ondier weg te hou. Die ander twee s'n was uit die boeke en ek weet beslis dat ek volgende keer net 'n ander pizza moet bestel.

Die heel lekkerste natuurlik was om die volgende oggend oorskiet te kon warm maak.

Pirates Cove is in my oë altyd 'n wenner en ek is binnekort terug vir nog!
