The areas affected are Omeya, Finkenstein Estate, Sungate, Regenstein, Herboth's Blick, Brakwater as well as the Brakwater industrial estate. It also includes Nubuamis industrial park, Kempinski and all other townships.
The same tariffs will apply to all the areas while the tariff for Brakwater has been brought on par with the Windhoek tariff.
Enquiries sent to the CoW for comment as to why Groot Aub was excluded, were left unanswered.
A notice by the City of Windhoek (CoW) read that the charging of municipal fees to the extended areas will be limited to rates and taxes as well as waste water management fees as per appropriate approved tariffs.
This implementation came into effect after the promulgation of the tariffs and approval by City Council in July.
“The collections of the municipal fees will ensure sustainable supply of municipal services to the city and that the collections are for the benefit of the city's residents,” the notice continued.
This is also to ensure that the residents within the new boundaries are equally catered for in the supply of Windhoek municipal services.
