Pie in the sky?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman?
No! In the case of Spies in Disguise, it’s definitely a bird though. A pigeon to be exact.
Spies in Disguise is an animated buddy comedy featuring the voices of Will Smith as Lance Sterling, a Bond-like superspy, and Tom Holland as Walter Beckett, a gadget-happy inventor.
Sterling is a one-man operation who relies on his wits, charm, fighting skills and a deadly hi-tech kit provided by a factory of inventors, while Walter is an idealist who believes in grenades that blast glitter and project giant holographic kittens.
No surprise then that their first encounter is not promising.
However, after Lance accidentally drinks Walter’s invisibility concoction and is turned into a pigeon, the odd-couple duo must work together to save the world from a villain who's using Lance’s face to commit criminal acts.
The chemistry between the voice actors is great, and the film has worthy messages about teamwork and accepting help from others. As for all the action, the movie clearly promotes nonviolent (or at least nonlethal) means of negotiating with and stopping criminals.
WE scores this fun, family flick 3.5 out of 5.
