As part of their environmentally focused strategy, the Cymot branch in Tal Street now boasts 175KW of solar panels, bringing the group’s total solar generation to 465KW. “We can generate an excess of 75 000 units of electricity per month, creating a CO² saving of 950 tons per year,” says Cymot’s infrastructure manager Brendon Dickerson. “We aim to contribute to being more sustainable and these kinds of projects are the first stepping stones,” he said. Solar systems were installed at the Tsumeb and Oshakati branches in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
