Reaping rewards for community work

Mandela Washington Fellowship

16 September 2019 | Education

If you’re making a positive impact on your community and are between 25 and 35 years old, why not attend information sessions hosted by some of the 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni. During the sessions, the Fellows talk about the life-changing experiences they had in the United States, while providing guidance about the application process.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders began in 2014 and is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). It empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training and networking. The program focusses on three tracks, namely civic engagement, public management and business and entrepreneurship.
Applications are open until 9 October and those that are selected will depart for the U.S. in June 2020.
Besides information sessions in Lüderitz, Keetmanshoop, Tsumeb, Swakopmund and Khorixas, don’t miss the Windhoek session on Thursday, 26 September at the American Cultural Centre (Sanlam building) at 17:30. Contact 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow Josaphat Tjiho at 081 395 4353 or [email protected] for info about this session.
Also check out what’s happening on social media under the hashtags #TeamRedemption and #MWFNam2019. For more information on the fellowship, visit: https://www.mandelawashingtonfellowship.org/
