Rehobothers woeker met begraafplaas

Hoewel die begraafplaas projek op Rehoboth tans sloer, het dit tot dusver baie goed verloop en is die projekleiers tevrede met hulle vordering.

“Die ou begraafplaas spog reeds met 'n draad omheining en pallisades voor,” sê Jossie van Wyk van die Rehoboth begraafplaasontwikkelingsforum.

Tog het die Windhoek Express-span tydens 'n besoek aan die dorp gesien booswigte het reeds probeer om die heining te breek.

“Vandalisme sien ons ongelukkig nog steeds,” sê sy. En as daar geen omheinings is nie, dan kom trap die donkies en perde alles stukkend. “Dit is hartseer om te dink 'n gemeenskap werk só hard om vordering in die dorp te weeg te bring, terwyl ander nie eens 'n bietjie respek vir ander se geliefdes het nie.”

Die forum wil graag by die nuwe begraafplaas begin werk, maar wag steeds vir die Rehoboth dorpsraad om vir hulle die bakens deur te gee. “Ons het verlede maand weer navrae gedoen en steeds geen terugvoer ontvang nie,” sê Jossie.

Die groep is oortuig hulle kan teen die einde van die jaar die projek afhandel, maar al waarvoor hulle wag is bakens.

“Die gemeenskap het reeds meer as N$700 000 vir die projek ingesamel,” sê Jossie en voeg by dat wanneer daar 'n begrafnis is, maak talle inwoners nog donasies. “Van die inwoners het tot 'n debietorder wat maandeliks afgaan.”

Die skole, kerke en Nedbank het ook 'n geweldige bydrae gelewer. “Die skole het gereeld muntleggings vir hierdie projek,” sê sy.

Dit is vir Jossie mooi om te sien hoe die gemeenskap saamstaan. “Hier is waar ons geliefdes lê en hier moet hulle rus kan vind.”
