Yolanda Nel Een mooi gebaar het ’n kettingreaksie op Rehoboth meegebring: Om meisies mooi te maak vir hulle matriekafskeid.
Monika van Wyk en haar ma, Memory, het ’n paar maande gelede op Facebook aangebied om meisies wat dit nie kan bekostig nie, se grimering gratis vir hul matriekafskeid te doen. “Ons het drie meisies vir hulle afskeide grimeer,” sê Monika, wat pas self matriek klaar gemaak het.
“Dit was só lekker om terug te ploeg in die gemeenskap en deel te wees om iemand se mooi dag meer spesiaal te maak,” sê sy.
Beide die vroue is gaande oor grimering en het hulle gevoel ’n matriekafskeid is juis ’n geleentheid waar elke meisie mooi moet voel.
Volgens Monika het dit ander lede van die gemeenskap aangespoor om rokke aan te bied, sowel as om meisies se hare en naels mooi te maak. “Hoewel ons net drie meisies gehelp het, is soveel meer deur ons gebaar en ander se goedhartigheid gehelp,” sê sy.
Monika, wat volgende jaar verder gaan studeer, hoop dat haar ma met die projek sal voortgaan.
