Showcase your culture

If you have been waiting for an event to showcase your unique Namibian product or service, then the Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival (WACF) should not be missed.
The WACF is a festival that aims to promote and celebrate Namibia’s rich cultural diversity and culture while creating a platform enhancing entrepreneurship, source local talent and educate Namibians through social creativity and innovation.
“The main focus is to promote Namibian culture in association with creativity, social empowerment and diversity,” says festival director, Sylvester Shapwa.
“We strive to create a platform closer to the people, in the location, with the objectives to bring out young entrepreneurs and SMEs to come and showcase their cultural activities and innovative products and services,” he added.
Set to attract more than 100 different exhibitors from various ethnic, cultural and tribal groups among corporate and international companies, festival goers will be spoilt for choice. Exhibition categories include arts, fashion, talent show, music, food and drinks, a choir night, and fireworks. “There will be a variety of cultural dances from various cultural groups from all over Namibia, showcasing of cultural games, food, clothing, exhibition from entrepreneurs, essential services from corporate companies and lots of fun,” he said.
There will also be a cooking competition and musical performances by top local musicians.
Events like this are important as a nation’s culture resides in the heart and in the soul of its people. “Most Namibians, especially those that reside in Windhoek, tend to fade away from their cultures and forget what culture is all about. It is against this background that we feel a platform such as this will enable Namibians to celebrate Namibian culture and be able to partake and practice cultural diversity.”
This is definitely an event for young and old, and not be missed. “Not only will this give parents time to socialise, but there is a children’s corner with lots of entertainment,” he says.
The festival takes place from 26 to 30 June at the Sam Nujoma stadium. If you would still like to register your marketing or corporate space, send an email to [email protected]
