Three titles for Saints

The Bank Windhoek National Outdoor Hockey League concluded in Windhoek last weekend, with Saints clinching the Men and Women’s Premier Leagues as well as the Women Reserve League titles.
In the Men’s Premier League, Saints finished on top with 32 points ahead of DTS on 27 points. Windhoek Old Boys took third spot with18 points while Unam, Wanderers and the X-Team registered 16, 8 and nil points respectively.
In the Women’s Premier League, Saints recorded 27 points, while Windhoek Old Boys Sports Club (WOBSC) took second spot with 14 points. Third place went to Wanderers who settled with 13 points ahead of Unam and DTS with eight and a single point on the log.
Saints also finished top of the log in the Women Reserve League with 29 points.
“Thank you Bank Windhoek for making it possible for us to stage the Outdoor National League for the fifth year in a row,” said the Namibia Hockey Union’s (NHU) President, Marc Nel. “This season, we had six men and five women teams competing in the premier leagues, and 11 men and nine women teams in the reserve leagues, marking this season the best in terms of club participation.”
On behalf of Bank Windhoek, André le Roux said that the bank’s partnership with the NHU was an example of what is possible to achieve when a sport is managed by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about what they do. “Bank Windhoek congratulates all the NHU, players and supporters who made this yet another successful year of hockey. We look forward to journeying with the NHU into 2020 and beyond.”
