Top soccer and netball on the cards

The eighth edition of the Katutura Sports Union’s Nefie Kandjii Cup takes place at the Katutura Youth Complex in the capital on Saturday, with 18 soccer and 14 netball teams expected to participate.
According to the organiser, Kuveri Tjonga, N$25 000 is up for grabs. “Besides trophies and medals, the knock-out competition sees the winners of the netball category taking home N$3 000, while the soccer winners receive N$8 000.”
The runners-up in the netball and soccer competitions win N$2 000 and N$5 000 respectively, while the losing semi-finalists each get N$1 000 in the netball competition and N$2 500 for soccer.
The football fun and games start at 07:00 on Saturday, while the netball matches are scheduled for next Saturday (12 October) at the Khomasdal Stadium, when the finals of both netball and soccer competitions take place.
Five premier league players per team are allowed to boost the morale of other players.
Inter Dee from Ovituua are the defending champions in the soccer category, while Windhoek-based Truck Team won the netball category last year. – Nampa
