Tuindorp reg vir landloop

Die eerste landloopkampioenskappe word Saterdag op Okahandja gehou, met atlete van die dorp en reg oor die land wat in verskeie afstande om die louere meeding.
Volgens een van die organiseerders, Berthold Karumenda, gaan die kampioenskappe baie opwindend wees, met resies vir o.20 mans en vroue, asook senior mans en vroue. “Atlete van primêre skole en diegene onder 18-jaar oud is ook genooi om deel te neem,” het hy gesê.
Die hoofresies vind oor 10km plaas met atlete wat vyf rondtes om die veld moet voltooi. Die o.20 mans moet 8km voltooi (4 rondtes) terwyl die u.20-vroue, 6km (3 rondtes) moet kaf draf.
Karumenda het gesê die nasionale landloopkampioenskappe dien as uitdunne om ’n span te kies wat Namibië op 8 April by die CAA Afrika-landloopkampioenskappe in Lome, Togo sal verteenwoordig.
Hy het bygevoeg dat net atlete in die o.20-kategorie en senior mans en vroue meeding om posisies vir dié kampioenskappe.
Karumenda het inwoners van Okahandja en die publiek genooi om Saterdag se aksie saam te kom geniet en om die atlete te ondersteun.
Die kampioenskap word deur die Erongostreeksportkantoor in samewerking met Athletics Namibia aangebied en vind by die Okahandja Turfklub plaas.
