Terwyl daar met die kos niks skort nie, is daar beslis 'n behoefte aan opleiding nodig by dié eetplek.

Die koffiewinkel is sinoniem met Spar en voor ons die langpad terug na Windhoek aandurf, stop ons eers vir wat ons hoop ’n vinnige ontbyt sal wees.

Bean Tree op Swakopmund lyk na ’n gewilde eetplek vir ’n Sondagoggend, met families wat ná kerk iets kom hap. Ons kry sitplek, maar ek is onmiddelik geïrriteerd met die stoel wat nie stewig genoeg is nie. Dit voel skoon asof die stoel se pote onder my wil-wil meegee.

Daar is ook geen kelnerin in sig nie en ons wag ’n paar minute voor iemand vir ons spyskaarte bring.

Vir drankies bestel die ander grondboontjiebotter latte. Ek bestel ’n gesoute karamel latte, wat nie in voorraad is nie. Dus besluit ek op ’n warm sjokalade. Vir ontbyt eet ons spek, eiers en roosterbrood. Ek herhaal twee keer dat my eiers hard gebak moet wees en dat geen witte moet beweeg nie.

Ons blaai deur ou koerante, want die nuutstes is nog nie beskikbaar nie. Ons wag ’n rukkie vir ons drinkgoed en kos, met ’n tweede kelnerin wat ons kom bedien. En my eierwitte dans soos basaarpoeding op my bord rond. Ek stuur dit terug terwyl die ander solank begin eet.

Die latte is ’n sukses en die geur van grondboontjiebotter hang in die lug. Die kos is baie lekker en die spek is veral heerlik gebraai. ’n Derde kelner kom dek ons borde af en bring ons rekening.

As hierdie stop vir ’n lui lekker Sondag ontbyt is, is dit die ideale plek, maar vir ’n groep wat nog die langpad moet aandurf huis toe, sal ons dit in die toekoms heroorweeg. Met die kos is daar hoegenaamd niks verkeerd nie, maar die diens kort beslis ’n bietjie aandag.
