Yolanda Nel Inwoners van Rehoboth het ’n petisie opgestel vir die onmiddellike afdanking van die dorp se uitvoerende hoof asook die hoof van die tegniese department.
“Ons probleme en behoeftes word nie deur die Rehoboth dorpsraad (RTC) in ag geneem nie,” lees ’n verklaring van die Rehoboth Onafhanklike Dorpsbestuurvereniging.
Die brief, wat namens inwoners van die dorp opgestel is, eis die onmiddellike afdanking van die uitvoerende hoof Simeon Kanime, sowel as die hoof van die tegniese department, Ernst de Waal.
Volgens die dokument wat Vrydag aan die RTC oorhandig is, is Kanime nie net onbevoeg om die werk te doen nie, maar het hy ook nie die nodige toewyding vir die werk nie. “Hy het ’n arrogante houding teenoor inwoners en hy gee eenvoudig net nie om vir die dorp of inwoners nie,” lui die brief. Die vereniging voer ook aan dat De Waal nie ’n waardige kandidaat vir die posisie is nie en dat hy amper altyd met verlof is.
Hulle is ook van mening dat kommunikasie na die Ministerie van Stedelike en Landelike Ontwikkeling gekniehalter word en dat geen van hulle korrespondensie die minister bereik nie. “Ons versoek dat die RTC ’n oop kanaal verseker sodat die minister bereik kan word.”

Die vereniging het Dinsdag by die dorpsraad ’n vergadering waar talle kwessies bespreek gaan word, insluitende ongeruimdhede binne die RTC, sowel as die water- en elektrisiteitsprobleme, die abattoir en padtoestande om ’n paar te noem.
