Verfhale sonder huiwer

Yolanda Nel Die bekende keramiekkunstenaar Sarie Maritz is hard aan die werk om op 22 November haar nuwe skeppings
te vertoon. Nie net is haar handewerk pragtig nie, maar ook bruikbaar en talle het al gesê dit is ’n vreugde om
kos uit hul eie Sarie-bakke te bedien.
Die voltydse pottebakker het haarself uitgedaag om met nuwe kleure, vorms en ontwerpe te eksperimenteer
en die uitstalling wat later hierdie maand begin, is ’n samevatting van ’n jaar se harde werk. Vanjaar fokus die
tema van Sarie se werk op verfhale, met sterk patrone bestaande uit lyne, merke, kolle en golwe, “sonder
enige huiwer”.
Volgens Sarie se dogter, Saar Maritz, het die klei-gogga haar ma baie jare gelede gebyt, toe sy ’n jong ma van
twee woelwaters was. “Tuisbly mamma en kreatief gefrustreerd,” lag sy. Sy het met pottebakklasse begin en
was onmiddellik verlief toe sy sien hoe haar handewerk in ’n produk verander.
Saar se ma en dié se suster het kort voor lank hul eie ateljee in Pretoria oopgemaak, waar hulle klasse begin
aanbied het. Na ’n trek na Port Elizabeth, was ’n nuwe ateljee amper onmiddellik daar om te help met die
verlange.
Tannie Sarie het toe aan haar eerste uitstalling begin werk. Dit was ook in hierdie tyd wat sy mede-stigter was
van die Oos Kaapse tak van die Pottebakkersvereniging van Suid-Afrika (APSA).
Na die trek Namibië toe, was dit geen verrassing dat sy by die Pottebakkersvereniging van Namibië aangesluit
het nie. Hier het sy ’n aanhoudende uitruil van idees en geleenthede vir uitstallings gevind.
Geïnspireer deur die natuur, is wat baie in Sarie se werk te vinde is. “Landskappe, bome en klippe speel ’n
groot rol in my ma se werk,” sê Saar trots. Hylton Nel, ’n Suid-Afrikaanse pottebaker, bied ook insig in Sarie se
ontwikkeling as pottebakker.
Haar uitstalling begin op 22 November om 18:30 by 19 Barellastraat in Klein Windhoek. Dit kan tot 8 Desember
besigtig word vanaf 09:00 tot 16:00 gedurende die week en van 09:00 tot 13:00 op Saterdae. Vir meer
