So vertel Antoinette Nel oor haar ervaring tydens ’n uitreikaksie. Dit was juis tydens dié aksie in die noorde van Namibië, dat sy besef het sy moet ’n lewensveranderende besluit neem. “En toe bedank ek,” vertel sy opgewonde. Sy voeg egter vinnig by sy gaan die volgende drie jaar voltyds ’n sendeling wees. “Dit was vir my ’n tipiese lightbulb oomblik, toe ek besef dit is waar ek moet wees.”
Om mee te begin gaan Antoinette in Januarie vir twee maande op ’n Afrika-trek. “Dit is nog nie bevestig na watter lande ons heen gaan nie.” Daarna sal sy in Namibië gestasioneer wees, waar sy nou met ’n paar gemeentes gaan werk en met uitreike gaan help.
In September volgende jaar beoog sy dan om op Operasie Mobalisasie (OM) se Logos Hope-skip te klim en haar bediening regoor die wêreld dan voort te sit. “Ek is baie opgewonde, maar ook bietjie senuweeagtig. Hierdie is nie sommer ’n besluit wat mens oornag neem nie. Dit is lang gesprekke met God om seker te maak jy hoor reg.”
So ’n besluit kom ook nie sonder ’n finansiële impak nie. “Dit gaan my ongeveer N$15 000 ’n maand kos om hierdie droom ’n werklikheid te maak,” sê Antoinette en voeg by dat sy reeds kerke, familie en vriende genader het vir ondersteuning. “Vir my verjaarsdag moet almal net debietorders teken,” sê sy met ’n glimlag.
Die Logos Hope het in Februarie vanjaar sy tiende herdenking gevier en is steeds die grootste drywende boekmark ter wêreld. Die konsep is ’n platform om literatuur regoor die wêreld te neem, met die doel om die evangelie te deel, Christus se liefde in gemeenskappe te demonstreer, en die wêreldwye kerk vir sending te mobiliseer.
Daar is tans sowat 400 vrywilligers uit 60 lande aanboord. In elke hawe gaan hulle aan wal om met plaaslike kerke en inisiatiewe saam te werk. Hulle bied praktiese hulp, belê tyd en deel hul roeping oor God se koninkryk.
