Want gesonder eetgoed is lekker

Yolanda Nel - Wat twee jaar gelede vir een gesin 'n leefstylverandering was, het nou in 'n groeiende besigheid ontaard.

Dit was met dié verandering dat Ciske Smith besef het alles wat ons eet, suiker bevat en glad nie gesond is nie. “Wanneer jy eet, moet jy jouself afvra, is dit goed vir my liggaam? En dan sit jy baie vinnig baie produkte op die rak terug.”

Sy het toe besluit om haar eie mayonnaise en grondboontjiebotter te maak. “En dit bevat geen preserveermiddels nie!” sê sy trots. Ook dus die naam, No sh!t added.

Sy sê mense lig soms 'n wenkbrou oor die naam, maar volgens Ciske is dit presies wat dit is, “dis gesond en daar is geen gemors binne die produk nie”.

Ciske het die twee produkte aanvanklik net vir haar gesin gemaak en familie en vriende daaraan laat proe. “Dit was só gewild onder almal wat ons ken, ek het besluit om dit te begin bemark.”

Sy het juis met die idee vorendag gekom omdat sy nie produkte gekry het wat na haar smaak was nie, en sy het besluit om dit self te maak. “Beste van alles, dit vat nie eers baie tyd nie. Jy moet net begin. Meer nog, dis lekker om jou eie produkte te maak.

“My wens is dat mense besef dat dit wat ons daagliks eet 'n uitwerking op ons gestel het en dat meer mense sulke leefstylveranderinge moet aanpak,” sê sy. Want hoe groter die behoefte aan gesonder opsies, hoe meer produkte sal op die mark beskikbaar gestel word.

“Sonder suiker het jy meer energie, slaap jy beter en daar is nog 'n honderd ander voordele,” vertel sy. Ciske sê dit is steeds vir haar moeilik om nee dankie te sê vir 'n sny koek of 'n lekker happie roomys. “Daarom gaan ek ook nou my eie roomys maak.”

Die mayonnaise hou ongeveer drie weke in die yskas, terwyl die grondboontjiebotter tot twee maande kan hou. “Maar wees gewaarsku, dis so lekker, dit gaan nooit so lank staan nie,” lag sy.
